Jamie’s Italian – Shepherd’s Bush

January 13, 2012

Today at work we decided to go for a team lunch. We usually go altogether on Fridays for a burrito, but this time we decided to try something new: Jamie’s Italian, one of the famous Jamie Oliver restaurants.

The Breakfast Club

September 21, 2011

“All happiness depends on a leisurely breakfast.”
-John Gunther

Do you agree?
Well I definitely do!
And I did enjoy a great leisurely breakfast last Sunday at the Breakfast Club near Angel station.

This is a chain with 4 locations in London – Hoxton – Angel – Soho – Spitalfields – spreading sun and energy on your breakfast.
They first opened in Soho in 2005 and then quickly grew with success until their last baby that appeared in Spitalfields in May 2011 – I’m sure they won’t stop there. But for now, I’m going to talk about the one located on the lovely Camden Passage in Angel.

Shandis

September 15, 2011

When you enter this little unpretentious restaurant, you’re warmly welcomed (especially if the owner greets you) and you already feel you’ll have a pleasant time there.

Shandis is the only Persian cuisine restaurant that I know in the Islington area, among all other places scattered along the young and busy Upper Street.
Forget the surrounding agitation and the glass’n'glitter style just for the duration of a good meal and come enjoy this calm and traditional atmosphere.
You’ll need to be attentive to make sure you don’t miss it as its façade is very very discreet (just next to Fig & Olive). Fortunately they put some tables as well as a board outside so we notice there’s a restaurant living there!

DriDri

September 10, 2011

I know it’s almost autumn, but there’s no reason to avoid ice-creams! I’m a proponent of “ice-cream day is everyday” and that’s how I ended up eating at least one ice-cream per day last summer – a little daily pleasure of which you get used to very VERY quickly.

I’ve got my local, and a few other good places in areas where I like to stroll. But this summer, a new place opened in London: DriDri! This brand new gelateria is worth the trip believe me :)

What’s different?

Tom’s Terrace – Somerset House

September 8, 2011

While summer is slowly fading away, it’s time to get back to blogging. C’est la rentrée ! Hope it will last a bit longer than before.
My come back began with an article about the restaurant Fish! where I spent a lovely evening a few days ago, when it was still warm outside. The day after, we went with my friend to another new place to keep enjoying outdoor spots while it’s still possible!

I’ve got to say I really enjoy getting back to this “new-places-discovery” life :) And today’s about Tom’s Terrace, the outdoor bar of Somerset House.

Fish!

September 4, 2011

I was missing fish!
And I wanted to catch up with my friend as we’ve not seen each other often lately.
So after some Googling, we picked up that place to try out last Friday eve.

Why fish!?

  • because we wanted something new
  • because we wanted something not too expensive
  • because it is next to Borough Market so we could expect quite a good fish (maybe)
Only good reasons as you can see. And we can say it was as expected.
The outdoor area was very busy as it was a warm evening FOR ONCE IN LONDON.

Amalfi

September 29, 2010

It’s been a while I had not been to an Italian place. Lately two of my closest friends came back to London and so we got back to our old way of life: spending all our time together, usually in restaurants, especially when it’s raining!

Last weekend we went to Amalfi as one of us went there about 6-7 months ago before leaving the Big Smoke and she remembered their delicious gnocchi. Read the rest of this entry »

Côte

September 22, 2010

A few days ago I met a friend I haven’t seen for a while and we decided to try out a new place to celebrate our reunion :)
He suggested a pub in Soho but unfortunately it was hosting a private event that evening… Sad. However it will definitely be subject to a forthcoming visit (thus a review!) as it seemed very attractive from outside. Read the rest of this entry »

The Green

September 16, 2010

Yesterday evening I was supposed to attend a geeky event around Farringdon with a friend of mine. Unfortunately there was such a big queue when we arrived that we would have to wait for an hour to get in. So we just gave it up.
Instead we looked for a good place to tickle our taste buds and picked randomly The Green which seemed to be more lively and busy than other spots in the area. Read the rest of this entry »
