The Real Greek – Westfield

March 1, 2012

Again, I took ages to write that one… about last Friday’s lunch! That was a beautiful sunny day, almost like summer time, and thus it was the perfect occasion to enjoy a Mediterranean meal at The Real Greek.
That restaurant chain was founded in 1999 and has now 7 branches across London. Read the rest of this entry ?

Kitchen Italia – Westfield

February 21, 2012

Last Friday we wanted to go to Pizza Express (Westfield) with the team to enjoy a very good offer “buy one main, get one for £2.50”! Unfortunately this place gets very busy at lunch time, especially on Fridays… so we ended up at Kitchen Italia. I’ll make it short because it’s a very simple place and there’s not much to say. Wahaca – Shepherd’s Bush

February 5, 2012

Wahaca, or should I say Oaxaca, is a mexican restaurant chain in London.
Oaxaca? A bit of history: it is located in Southwestern Mexico and is one of the 31 states which comprise the 32 federative entities of Mexico. It is divided into 571 municipalities. 571… hum… how do they manage that??? The state has some of the greatest biodiversity in Mexico and is also best known for its indigenous peoples and cultures. The most numerous and best known are the Zapotecs and the Mixtecs. I should plan a trip to Latin America…

Shandis

September 15, 2011

When you enter this little unpretentious restaurant, you’re warmly welcomed (especially if the owner greets you) and you already feel you’ll have a pleasant time there.

Shandis is the only Persian cuisine restaurant that I know in the Islington area, among all other places scattered along the young and busy Upper Street.
Forget the surrounding agitation and the glass’n’glitter style just for the duration of a good meal and come enjoy this calm and traditional atmosphere.
You’ll need to be attentive to make sure you don’t miss it as its façade is very very discreet (just next to Fig & Olive). Fortunately they put some tables as well as a board outside so we notice there’s a restaurant living there!

Tom’s Terrace – Somerset House

September 8, 2011

While summer is slowly fading away, it’s time to get back to blogging. C’est la rentrée ! Hope it will last a bit longer than before.
My come back began with an article about the restaurant Fish! where I spent a lovely evening a few days ago, when it was still warm outside. The day after, we went with my friend to another new place to keep enjoying outdoor spots while it’s still possible!

I’ve got to say I really enjoy getting back to this “new-places-discovery” life 🙂 And today’s about Tom’s Terrace, the outdoor bar of Somerset House.

Fish!

September 4, 2011

I was missing fish!
And I wanted to catch up with my friend as we’ve not seen each other often lately.
So after some Googling, we picked up that place to try out last Friday eve.

Why fish!?

  • because we wanted something new
  • because we wanted something not too expensive
  • because it is next to Borough Market so we could expect quite a good fish (maybe)
Only good reasons as you can see. And we can say it was as expected.
The outdoor area was very busy as it was a warm evening FOR ONCE IN LONDON.

Amalfi

September 29, 2010

It’s been a while I had not been to an Italian place. Lately two of my closest friends came back to London and so we got back to our old way of life: spending all our time together, usually in restaurants, especially when it’s raining!

Last weekend we went to Amalfi as one of us went there about 6-7 months ago before leaving the Big Smoke and she remembered their delicious gnocchi. Read the rest of this entry ?

Côte

September 22, 2010

A few days ago I met a friend I haven’t seen for a while and we decided to try out a new place to celebrate our reunion 🙂
He suggested a pub in Soho but unfortunately it was hosting a private event that evening… Sad. However it will definitely be subject to a forthcoming visit (thus a review!) as it seemed very attractive from outside. Read the rest of this entry ?

Ev

July 4, 2010

I was a bit too optimistic in my last post when I claimed “Sunny London” – the good weather took ages to settle down… we waited for it, and we can now ENJOY IT! That’s what I’ve done these last days, especially in parks and terrasses.
Ev is precisely the type of place where you can relax and have a good time: tables outside, turkish delights, reasonable prices.

Italian Kitchen

June 5, 2010

Sunny London, here we are! Finally! 🙂
And to celebrate, I won’t talk about fresh salads, blended fruit juices or ice-creams… I CAN’T! I bet with a friend I wouldn’t eat any sweets or junk food for a month. One week and a half left. I’m gonna win even if it’s painful!
After that, I’ll be able to talk about all the best ice-creams in London. But at the moment, I enjoy salted dished.

And today, we’re going to Italia and its wonderful delights!
Still in Central London – was tired that day and went to the closest – Italian Kitchen is a small restaurant which doesn’t look anything special from outside… but inside…
